The competition is in honour of Robert Huddleston – also known as The Bard of Moneyrea – who, during his lifetime, is believed to have written thousands of poems in the Ulster-Scots language.

There are two separate competitions – one for general entries (adults and teenagers), and one for primary school pupils. Cash prizes and gift vouchers are available for the winning entries.

For the General Entry competition, the prizes are:

1st Prize  £500

2nd Prize  £250

3rd Prize  £100

For the Primary School competition, the prizes are:

1st Prize – £100 Smyths Toys voucher

2nd Prize – £50 Smyths Toys voucher

3rd Prize  £25 Smyths Toys voucher.

All are welcome to take part in the competition and folk are encouraged to write in Ulster-Scots.
